Our Story
About NEXTSTEP: Unlocked Potential
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by survivors, for survivors — providing practical support to those rebuilding their lives after domestic violence in Texas and New Mexico.
Our Mission
NEXTSTEP: Unlocked Potential exists to bridge the gap between crisis and recovery. We provide practical, non-clinical support — connecting survivors with housing resources, financial assistance, legal referrals, and community networks so they can rebuild their lives with dignity, stability, and hope.
Our Vision
We envision a society where survivors of domestic violence are not defined by the tribulations they have faced, but are fully supported with the vital resources and care necessary to rebuild their lives, unlock their potential, and achieve lasting self-actualization.
Our Core Values
Survivor Safety First
We prioritize the safety, autonomy, confidentiality, and self-determination of every survivor we serve.
Survivor-Centered
We serve individuals of all genders, races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, religions, abilities, and socioeconomic statuses without discrimination.
Collaboration
We do not replace licensed providers; we partner with them to ensure survivors receive comprehensive, coordinated care.
Accountability
We are committed to transparency in our operations, finances, and impact — honoring the trust placed in us by donors, partners, and the communities we serve.
Important: What NEXTSTEP Is Not
NEXTSTEP is NOT a crisis center and does not provide emergency services, counseling, coaching, mental health treatment, medical care, legal advice, crisis intervention, or safety planning. If you are in immediate danger, please call 911 or contact one of our listed crisis hotlines.
